MARCH 14: Several hundred monks have joined protests against Chinese rule in Lhasa, TIBET. Like those in Burma last SEPTEMBER, the demonstrations were led by Buddhist monks. Tanks, patrolling the streets of Lhasa, used tear gas. Witnesses reported seeing victims burnt to death being carried away on stretchers. Many well known celebrities are prepared to support a boycott of the Beijing Olympics unless CHINA grants basic freedoms to TIBET.

MARCH 25: Violent protests by hundreds of monks against Chinese rule have left at least 100 innocent civilians dead. Some of victims demonstrating a deep-rooted resentment of the Chinese government were stabbed or have been burnt to death. Chinese security forces fired on crowds.  FRANCE’s President Nicolas Sarkozy has said that "all options are open". FRANCE might consider boycotting this summer's Olympic Games if CHINA fails to enter into a dialogue with TIBET’s government-in-exile. The Olympic Games should take place in a peaceful environment.

MARCH 27: POLAND's Prime Minister Donald Tusk and CZECH President Vaclav Klaus have announced they intend to boycott the Olympic Games. FRANCE’s President Nicolas Sarkozy plans to boycott the opening ceremony.
